Adult Education

Beit Midrash – RTBI’s House of Study for All People

A full year of adult education programming is available, taught by our lay leaders and clergy. We invite everyone to enjoy our classes free of charge.

Beit Midrash for 5772 (2011-2012) will include:

Learn to Read Hebrew (for adults) – led by member Caryn Starr-Gates, this popular perennial course will be held on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. beginning on November 6.  Learn to read what’s in the prayerbook! Free and open to the public.  To register please email  Caryn directly at carynstarr@yahoo.com or call (201) 845-7550, ext. 1.

Saturday Lunch-n-Learn on various parashayot (chapters) of the Torah – Rabbi Jarah Greenfield will lead congregants on study sessions of different chapters of the Torah, the Five Books of Moses.

Film series about Jews around the world – as part of our New Faces theme, we will take a look at various Jewish communities from different countries in this free film series, to be held on Sunday afternoons.

How to Chant Torah – Cantor Lois teaches adults how to chant from the torah scroll. This is a wonderful way for parents of bar/bat mitzvah students to participate in the torah service alongside their children, or for our members and friends to become part of our Team Torah group of torah readers.

Torah study - some of our Saturday services include a study and discussion on that day’s torah portion instead of reading from the torah scroll.

Call (201) 845-7550, ext. 1 and leave a message if you need more information, or check our bulletin for updates.
